In-home gas cylinders are widely used in many parts of the world to fuel day-to-day activities: cooking a stove top dinner, relaxing in a hot shower and delivering warmth during the winter season, to name a few. Integrating technology into these cylinders provides an opportunity to eliminate the guesswork on fuel levels, gas usage and more—which is exactly what our Portugal team did. And the benefits extend beyond user experience.

The XLITE™ cylinders in which NEXI is installed are comprised of a polymeric shroud, made with fully recyclable thermoplastic and ensures both safety and comfort in handling. The base—also polymeric—combats rust and corrosion, lengthening the lifespan of the cylinder while also acting as a shock absorber. The innovative, high-strength steel of the cylinder itself lends increased durability and lighter weight.

The NEXI solution is the first technology of its kind. A small disk, designed for recyclability, houses the technology and is installed on the underside of a propane gas cylinder. The device enables customers to track the location and pressure of cylinders to help improve fleet management, leading to reduced carbon emissions and costs.
