IMPACT IN ACTION

Our Westerville, Ohio, manufacturing facility recently hired a vendor to help identify specific items that could be added into recycling streams rather than disposed of in trash bins, such as steel and aluminum weld dust, filter materials from iron welding, powder paint, shot blast and office paper. Implementation of this program has proven effective with a 33% increase in recycled waste in FY24.

In addition, by changing the type of lubricant used in the aluminum line, the overall waste is reduced while safety improved due to the new lubricant requiring less pit removal. Beyond that, this process improvement resulted in 73% annual cost savings.
